The Spokane River begins at the north-west tip of beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene. Nine miles downstream is the Post Falls Hydroelectric Dam, creating an area in-between known as the Post Falls Reservoir. The Spokane River goes on for another 100 miles before it empties into the Columbia River.
Your Coeur d'Alene vacation home, on the Post Falls Reservoir, is just a short distance from Lake Coeur d'Alene, affording complete access to the lake, while providing a little quieter spot along the river side. Floaters on everything from inner tubes to driftboats dot the water on some days during summer. The reservoir's wildlife Twin Goose Islands (which become one in the winter time, when the reservoir is lower), are water foul habitation inaccessible to people. Black Bay, part of a park run by the city of Post Falls, is a perfect spot to relax away from the boating traffic, particularly if you are on a kayak or non-motorized vessel. Otherise, you can still anchor your boat and relax. The bay is closed to motorized traffic about halfway from the shore to the end of the bay.
Of course, you have all of Lake Coeur d'Alene to explore. If you didn't bring a boat along, you can rent almost anything you want in Coeur d'Alene. You will find links on the Coeur d'Alene page, accessible from the top menu.
